I never thought I would LOVE track. Who in their right mind would love killing themselves over and over again going in circles on a red rubbery surface? Hmm, I always disliked the thought of even setting foot on a track. After pole vaulting a bit my senior year in college, running with the crazy fast UCLA track team a bit as well, I still did NOT like track. Not only did I find it boring, it was REALLY painful as well.
Fast forward 10 years and I am in love with track, even though practice is at 6AM!! I have to thank my awesome training partners for this. Carrie, Steve, Reid, Ed, Simon, Lloyd have made track so much FUN in a crazy sort of way. We love pushing, chasing, and killing each other over and over again and having tons of fun in the process. I am finally learning how to pace myself better, how to push myself past what I thought was my threshold, and most of all I am learning to let go when I need to.
I am more than Happy with the way the past 2 months have come along. I am learning so much about myself and loving everything that I do. I am listening to my body, listening to my husband who tells me when I need to stop, and I am the happiest I have been in a long time. I know it’s because of all the changes I have made in my life. I just let go of what was not working, followed my heart, and constantly remind myself how lucky I am to be healthy, young, and close to my family and friends. Life is precious, enjoy every moment!!

I ran track in 7th grade. “sure, how hard can the 400 be, it is only 1 lap.” I then played softball for the remaining years till i graduated and then had to do timed miles on the track weekly for tennis!
So fast forward…I havent been back. But i want to.
Thanks for giving me hope that i can someday love the track. But I guess I have some time. Snowing now, and knowing MN it will be snowing in April!
Fun pics of the poochs in the earlier post!

I used to hate track workouts when I was little. Now, I LOVE them. Of course, I mostly seem to do them on the treadmill because of our awful local track (sprained my ankle twice in one day on it… don’t get me started). It’s fun being speeeeeedy. Maybe one day I’ll know that feeling haha

Yes indeed! Listening closely to yourself- so important. I generally like the track. Not at 6am. I don’t know how you do it that early. Glad to hear you are happy with the past 2 months. It is always nice to reflect and realize that things are going well.

Enjoying Track – that is a sweet spot for me because I come from that background so good for you!! That’s way cool and it sounds like things are coming together in a wonderful way for you to start out this year! Excited to see what it has in store! Great job and keep it up!!

I’ve always loved the track, since that’s my background, it’s where you can really see how much the training is paying off. It’s funny to think now that when I was a jr in highschool and just a high jumper, I almost quit the track team when the coach made the jumpers start running. little did I know.

Track at 6 am – note to myself: must try that. I am so glad you are loving the life. Love the attitude.

You do not even realize how happy I am to hear you say you’re following your heart, to hear you say that you are listening to YOUR body above all else, and to hear the happiness that is coming through your posts. I think you’re going to have an amazing year – regardless of results (which I also think will be GREAT, though!). Can’t wait to see it unfold, E!
I love track workouts too, but only with other people. They kind of suck by themselves.

I never loved a track so much until I ran a marathon on one! But running fast on a track, not so much (yet). You give me hope!

I was the biggest track slacker in HS. It was all about hanging out on the high jump mats with my friends in the springtime. Now I love a good killer track workout. Times change! Glad to hear that your new life is so swell, but I missed having you at camp! Looks like I’ll be spending a lot of March in SoCal. Will you be around? Oceanside?

Enjoyed this post. Thanks for the comment. Believe it or not, I’ve actually met you before. It was in Kona a couple of years ago at an IM Activewear photo shoot. You and another gal posed with my hubby, Roger. Ring any bells?

It is funny how something you thought you would never like becomes your favourite. I haven’t quite figured out how it happens but am very glad it does. I was like that with cycling.
